This book presents the work of Lulwah Al Homoud (born 1967), a pioneer of the Saudi contemporary art movement. Her practice fuses spirituality, the written word, and mathematical calculations into what she describes as “spiritual art.” Drawing inspiration from the spirit of Islamic art, as well as from poets and philosophers such as Abu al-Atahiya and Jalal al-Din Rumi, Al Homoud constructs dialogues between language and letters, developing relationships between form, concept, dimension, and spirituality.

 

An anthology of her works, this publication explores the intersections between spirituality and calligraphy within her artistic vocabulary.
