This slip case brings together two volumes from The Art Library: Discovering Arab Artists, dedicated to documenting influential figures in Arab modern and contemporary art.

 

The first focuses on contemporary Saudi artist Manal Aldowayan, whose practice engages themes of invisibility, collective memory, and the representation of Saudi women through photography, sculpture, textiles, and participatory installations. The second is devoted to Hassan Sharif, a pioneering conceptual artist in the Gulf, known for his installations using everyday materials and his critical engagement with mass consumption and industrialisation.

 

Together, the set highlights two distinct practices that have shaped contemporary art in the region.
